Strengthening the One Health approach in Terego and Madi-Okollo Districts

What we are doing
A 29-month project improving the health of refugee and host communities in Terego and Madi-Okollo by bringing human, animal and environmental health together under the One Health approach.
In 2025, 400 households across 20 villages were reached through door-to-door awareness, backed by 4 radio talk shows and 24 District One Health Task Force meetings. Knowledge and compliance with health standards improved among inspectors and village and district health teams.
After awareness and follow-up by Village Health Teams, households built 489 new sanitary facilities: 111 latrines, 133 tippy taps, 131 drying racks and 114 rubbish pits. Two animal slaughter spaces and two waste management facilities were completed and handed over to the districts, and 14,489 animals were vaccinated.
