Creative Capacity Building: Employment Opportunities for Vulnerable Youth

What the project did
Refugee and host-community youth in Rhino Camp and Imvepi learned to design their own technologies with Creative Capacity Building (CCB), then turned them into businesses. The project ended in 2025.
The project supported 982 people (517 women, 465 men), including 146 refugee youth. They were organised into 54 CCB groups (28 in Rhino Camp, 26 in Imvepi) and 24 business groups, trained in prototype development and enterprise incubation, and 17 groups received start-up kits.
In 2025, 388 youth earned income from businesses such as liquid soap, baking, food processing and tool sharpening, and 23 CCB groups received UGX 10.06 million in seed funding. Inventions include the Gulper latrine-emptying pump, now contracted by UNHCR and Terego District.
