Early Childhood Development Centres

About the project

What we are doing

Early childhood centres in Ggaba, Kasubi and Natete markets in Kampala give market vendors’ children a safe place to learn and play while their parents work.

In 2025, 77 new children (45 girls, 32 boys) were registered. Ten caregivers were trained in ECD management, nutrition and hygiene, and in urban organic farming to improve children’s diets. Four meetings were held with market leaders and district authorities on the centres’ progress.
