About the project
What we are doing
Young people who left school early are trained in practical trades and life skills, then supported into jobs or their own businesses.
195 youth (62 women, 133 men) completed three months of training in baking and catering, welding and metal fabrication, horticulture, solar, and phone and motorcycle repair. 26 were employed, many retained by local artisans, and 17 started their own businesses such as bakery stalls, phone repair workshops, restaurants and kitchen gardens.
Employment fell short of the original target because of limited local jobs and skills mismatches. Even so, the project built employability and enterprise readiness for more than 500 youth.
