Kulika Uganda focuses on promoting ecological organic agriculture and climate smart agriculture by empowering smallholder farmers in rural communities to adopt sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices.

Ecological organic agriculture is an approach to agriculture that focuses on maintaining the natural balance of the environment by using natural methods such as crop rotation, composting, and the use of natural pesticides and herbicides. This approach to agriculture helps to reduce the negative impact of agriculture on the environment, including soil degradation and pollution, and also helps to improve the quality of crops and the health of the ecosystem.

Climate smart agriculture is an approach to agriculture that takes into account the changing climate and seeks to reduce the negative impact of climate change on agriculture. This is achieved through practices such as water conservation, soil management and the use of weather-resistant crops. Climate smart agriculture also helps to improve the resilience of agricultural systems and reduce the vulnerability of farmers to the impacts of climate change.

Kulika Uganda promotes both ecological organic agriculture and climate smart agriculture in Uganda through a number of different initiatives which include:

  1. Farmer Training: Kulika Uganda provides training to smallholder farmers on sustainable agriculture practices including ecological organic agriculture and climate smart agriculture. The training covers topics such as composting, crop rotation and the use of natural pesticides and herbicides.
  2. Agricultural Extension Services: We provide agricultural extension services to smallholder farmers including advice and trainings on the best practices for sustainable agriculture. This includes information on the latest research and development in the field of sustainable agriculture.
  3. Partnerships: We work with likeminded to promote sustainable agriculture in rural communities. These organizations provide a platform for farmers to share their knowledge and experiences and to work together to promote sustainable agriculture practices.
  4. Marketing and Value Chain Development: We help farmers to access markets for their products by improving their capacity to produce high-quality crops and to participate in value chains addition. This helps to increase the income of farmers and to promote sustainable agriculture in the long term.

We are making significant contributions to the promotion of ecological organic agriculture and climate smart agriculture in Uganda by empowering farmers to adopt sustainable agriculture practices hence helping to reduce the negative impact of agriculture on the environment and to improve the livelihoods of farmers in rural communities.
