Kulika Uganda is implementing a 2 year and 7 months project entitled “Improving Livelihoods through Employment Opportunities for Vulnerable Youth from Refugee and Host Communities in West Nile, Uganda” with funding from BMZ Germany government and Malteser International targeting 1,233 beneficiaries from Rhino-camp and Imvepi Refugee settlement in Terego and Madi Okollo District. The project is using the “Creative Capacity Building” approach to train individuals using a structured curriculum based on the “Design Cycle” method to empower the beneficiaries to design prototypes and technologies to solve self-identified problems which foster their ability to improve on one’s livelihood through self-employment or micro-entrepreneurship.

In its 6-month activities are going on well and have been kept on schedule. To date, 9 groups of youth have started business activities using their tools. They are due to receive startup capital to boost their production. Training on CCB is continuing for new groups and sessions on technology refinement are also ongoing. A construction of another innovation Centre is already underway. This will see the involvement of the youth who graduated from the St Jude Omugo.
