Founder of Kulika Charitable Trust Uganda<\/h3>

Kulika was founded in the United Kingdom in 1981 with the goal of providing educational opportunities to Ugandans through vocational and academic scholarships. It has since grown into a fully independent Ugandan registered NGO, with a focus on community development and the provision of educational opportunities.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n

The Inspiration and Birth of the Kulika Trust UK<\/p>

A young girl\u2019s fascination with Africa<\/h2>

The Kulika Trust was essentially a gift from her father, Arnold Brenninkmeyer, who died in 1976. Her interest began when her piano teacher told her stories about children in Africa who needed aid.<\/p><\/div>

1964\u20131970<\/h3>

Patricia works with the Child Welfare and Adoption Society in Uganda, making sure orphans cared for by Catholic missions were well treated and reunited with their families where possible.<\/p><\/div>

1970s<\/h3>

She joins the Commonwealth Students\u2019 Children Society (CSCS), supporting students from Africa who had brought their children to the UK, and sees the need for skilled people in war-torn Uganda.<\/p><\/div>

1978\u20131991<\/h3>

Patricia runs Warren Farm as a children\u2019s home. A small farm supplies eggs, milk, meat and manure, laying the foundation of the Trust\u2019s sustainable agriculture focus.<\/p><\/div>

1981<\/h3>

Kulika is founded in the United Kingdom to provide educational opportunities to Ugandans through vocational and academic scholarships.<\/p><\/div>

1993\u20132000<\/h3>

Warren Farm becomes a training facility for African farmers. The first trainees from Uganda, Elijah Kyamuwendo and Josephine Kizza, arrive in 1993, and the farm trains 40 farmers by 2000.<\/p><\/div>

Mid-1990s<\/h3>

The ecological organic agriculture training program begins in Uganda, transforming many families and communities.<\/p><\/div>

Today<\/h3>

Kulika Uganda is a fully independent Ugandan registered NGO, employing twenty-six people and operating throughout the country from its headquarters in Kampala.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

\u201cI arrived in Uganda many years later, a fully qualified child care officer with very little experience but boundless enthusiasm.\u201d<\/p>
