AREAS OF CONSULTANCY
Kulika has a wealth of experience and expertise in the area
of Community Development and has therefore been asked to assist
other organizations in many different capacities, including:
Training
in Sustainable Organic Agricultural (SOA) techniques. The
Kulika curriculum is always adapted to the needs of the organization
and provided by fully qualified tutors. Training takes place
either at the Kulika Centre in Lutisi village, 37km from Kampala,
or at a local venue.
Monitoring
and evaluation of community development projects and production
of written reports
Advisory work for organizations
operating in, or planning to operate in, the sphere of community
development.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
Organizations for whom the Kulika Community Development Department
have consulted include:
• CADeP (Congregational Agricultural Development
Programme), Uganda: Since 2005, 60 CADeP members
from across Uganda have directly benefited from Kulika SOA
training and a number of their farms have since become models
of agricultural excellence and used to demonstrate the principles
and outcomes of SOA to other farmers.
• Send a Cow in Uganda and Ethiopia:
Kulika staff led the design and facilitation of the training
of farmers involved in these programmes.
• Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International, Rwanda:
a Kulika tutor delivered SOA training as part of a conservation
project to train teachers in charge of the environment in
rural primary and secondary schools.
• Self Help International in Kamuli, Uganda:
Kulika tutors trained farmers in selected areas of
Kamuli District in sustainable agriculture methods, with particular
reference to soil and water conservation and soil fertility
building.
• Porticus, Netherlands: Kulika was
requested by Porticus to evaluate the Caritas Mbarara Integrated
Project of Sustainable Farming and Functional Adult Literacy,
as well as the potentialities of an agricultural development
project at St Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT).
• Cherish, Uganda: the Kulika Assistant
Community Development Coordinator is seconded one day a week
on a consultancy basis to this newly established NGO, which
has created a self-sustaining centre to support HIV/AIDS orphans.
• Caritas Mbarara (SOATP project):
Kulika carried out an evaluation of the Sustainable Organic
Farming techniques project & assisted in writing a proposal
for the continuation of project activities.
