About Kulika

Kulika was established in 1981 in the UK as a grant-making charitable trust specialising in the provision of educational scholarships for East African students. More recently Kulika has developed its own operational programmes in Uganda, which is now the focus of all the organisation's activities. The objective of developing human resources for the development of Uganda underpins all of Kulika's work.

The Scholarship Programme supports 100+ students each year, mainly in Uganda, and a new Sustainable Agriculture Training Programme has been established - providing training to farmers who act as trainers in their own communities.

In Uganda, the Kulika Charitable Trust (Uganda), an autonomous, Uganda-registered Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) is responsible for the implementation and management of Kulika's programmes.Kulika Uganda employs around 26 staff in Kampala and around the country.

At the end of 2005 the operational management of Kulika was fully handed over to the Ugandan office. However, donations and enquiries may still be made in the UK – click here to contact us.
